ISLAMIC. Circa AH 2nd-4th century / AD 8th-10th century. Seal (Lead, 17 mm, 3.67 g, 12 h), with a string hole. Illegible Kufic inscription in the center and margin in the angular script with forked and foliate terminals typical of the Umayyad and early ʿAbbasid period; a star in the field. Rev. ‘aʿazzahū Allāh / ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad’ (‘May Allah reinforce him. Ali son of Muhammad’ in Arabic); illegible marginal legend in Kufic in the form of a square. Minor chipping, otherwise, very fine.
